GCSE results day is here and we’ve compiled a list of our FAQs from last year in the hope that it will help you.
When is GCSE results day?
Let’s start with the basics. This year, GCSE results day falls on the slightly earlier date of Thursday 12th August.
When can I drop-in for advice on what to do next?
Our Learner Recruitment Team will be available from 9.00am to 5.00pm. Please visit one of our campus receptions or call us on 01709 513355 or email learn@dearne-coll.ac.uk.
What happens if I just miss the requirements of the course I want to do?
The best thing you can do is get in touch as soon as possible, we’ll be on hand from 9.00am until 5.00pm on GCSE results day. We offer courses at a variety of different levels and our Learner Recruitment team will be more than happy to discuss the different options with you.
I’ve just got my GCSEs, what are my options?
As a school leaver, you can choose to study a technical course, A-Levels or get an apprenticeship. We recommend doing your research into each before making a decision.

Is it too late to apply in August?
Nope. We will continue to accept applications throughout August and September, so you still have time to change your mind. Some of our courses have flexible start dates. Please contact our Learner Recruitment Team for further information.
Will I have to re-sit my GCSE Maths/English at College?
Maths and English skills help you in everyday life and if you want to go onto uni or into work after your course, most places have them as a requirement. So if you have not achieved GCSE A*-C/9-4 you will undertake these qualifications alongside your main programme.
What financial support is available to me?
To take the financial pressures off you while studying at College, we have a number of financial support schemes in place to help you.

When will I receive my lanyard?
You will need to collect your ID card and lanyard once you have started college. Your tutor will be able to give you more information once you have started your course.
When is enrolment?
New students
Enrolment begins from 12th August 2021 and is a fully online process. You will be sent an email with instructions for completing your online enrolment form. As soon as you receive this email, you will be able to log in and begin enrolling! It is crucial that you have provided us with a valid email address. If you have not yet applied please begin your application here.
Returning students
If you are a returning student then you should already have been emailed your online enrolment instructions. Please be aware that some students on 2-year Level 3 courses don’t need to re-enrol. If you are unsure about anything, please contact our Learner Recruitment Team.
Part-Time and Adults
If you are enrolling on one of our part-time courses such as Maths, English, Access to Higher Education, Counselling and Accounting, you should already have been sent an email with instructions for completing your online enrolment form. As soon as you receive this email, you will be able to log in and begin enrolling! It is crucial that you have provided us with a valid email address. Higher Education
If you are enrolling on one of our Higher Education courses, you should already have been sent an email with instructions for completing your online enrolment form. As soon as you receive this email, you will be able to log in and begin enrolling! It is crucial that you have provided us with a valid email address. You can apply for Student Finance here.
