‘Find Your Feet’ at the RNN Group
At the moment, RNN Group, made up of Rotherham College, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College, is enrolling new learners ready for the start of term, with our induction weeks starting next week.
We are so excited to be welcoming all of our learners to the start of term here at Dearne Valley College and we have a fantastic plan of eight weeks of induction to ensure our learners feel happy and settled with us and that everyone ‘finds their feet’.
These weeks are all about ensuring our learners get to know course colleagues and their new environment throughout with lots of activities put on to help with this welcome. We hope learners start to make new friendships and feel excited about the next step in their educational journey.
Welcome Week
Across all three of our College campuses we have activities such as inductions, tours, guest speakers, curriculum activities and sports competitions, employer academy representatives talks, treasure hunts and forest camp, masterclasses, external trips and team building opportunities to name a few!
We end the first week with a colour smash at our Dearne Valley Campus, we are organising buses to ensure learners from Rotherham College and our North Notts College can join in!
As a Group, it is important to us that everyone feels welcomed into the RNN Group family and feels comfortable knowing where their classroom and key facilities are during this first induction week. Tutors will be setting expectations as well as giving tours of the campuses so learners know where these key facilities are to help with orientation.
Week two onwards includes opportunities to sign up for activities and clubs. We have careers fairs in week 5 across all campuses, a wellbeing week in week 6, skills support in week 7 and a celebration week, in our final week of this half term, in week 8. We have workshops, talks, support available and activities on throughout.
