The qualifications you gain while studying with us are recognised by universities and other Higher Education providers. Not only do you earn the credits for your university course, you gain hands on experience in your chosen subject, preparing you for the next stage.
We will help you develop the essential employability skills that you need to progress on to your chosen career. The College has strong industry links and works closely with employers. We will involve you in challenging projects and real-life work with employers. You will study in industry-standard facilities and be taught by experts from your chosen field.
We are keen to enhance your skills through competitions and projects that can dramatically develop your abilities while providing the opportunity to demonstrate your strengths and gain recognition.
Our students have competed in local, regional and national competitions including World Skills UK, Rotherham Youth Project and more.
You will be taught by staff with experience and skills from the industry in high-quality environments, which provide equipment as used in your sector. Our industry-standard facilities allow you to get hands-on and gain the technical experience and confidence ready for employment.
As a student at Dearne Valley College, it is our pledge to you to ensure that you achieve at least a grade C/4 in your English and maths qualifications. Our experienced team will support you to build your knowledge, in a way that is best suited to you. You will develop the skills needed to feel confident, effective and independent in education, work and everyday life.
When making their career choices our learners can access 1:1 support from qualified careers advisers.
We offer our learners the opportunity to engage in an innovative careers and enrichment programme, one which places the world of work at its heart.
Our students can access information, advice and guidance on the different pathways: higher or further education, apprenticeships, traineeships, work experience and voluntary work.
You will find career and labour market information resources available in our well stocked libraries and Careers and Employability Hubs and on our College on line.
We also have careers seminars and fairs where you can speak to employers, apprenticeship providers and university representatives.
Our learners can also use our online College resources. We can help you find suitable opportunities and help you apply, for example, writing CVs for jobs or with your university personal statement or have a practice mock interview.
