This Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship prepares individuals to provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to adults facing physical, practical, social, emotional, or intellectual challenges.
It will equip apprentices with the knowledge, skills and behaviours to help individuals achieve personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible.
Graduates will be able to perform key tasks such as assisting with daily living activities, monitoring health, communicating effectively, safeguarding individuals from harm, promoting health and wellbeing and working professionally within established boundaries.
It will prepare apprentices for roles like Care Assistant, Support Worker, or Personal Assistant in various settings, including residential homes, domiciliary care and day centres.
The curriculum covers essential topics like understanding care plans, respecting diversity, recognising abuse, managing risks and adhering to professional standards.
It will also emphasise on the importance of core values like care, compassion, courage, communication, competence, and commitment.
Apprentices will study and learn the knowledge, skills and behaviours which will prepare for the End Point Assessment:
- Person-Centred Care: Supporting individuals to achieve goals and live independently, respecting their preferences and choices.
- Daily Living Support: Assisting with personal care, mobility, eating, social activities and health monitoring.
- Communication Skills: Developing effective communication strategies, including verbal, non-verbal and assistive methods.
- Safeguarding: Recognising and responding to abuse, understanding safeguarding procedures and promoting individual safety.
- Health & Wellbeing: Promoting physical and mental wellbeing, managing risks and implementing infection control measures.
- Professionalism: Working within professional boundaries, maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating ethical behaviour.
- Legal & Ethical Framework: Understanding relevant legislation, codes of practice and duty of care.
- Care Planning: Contributing to person-centred care plans and adapting support to individual needs.
- Teamwork & Collaboration: Working effectively with colleagues, families and other organisations.
- Personal Development: Reflecting on practice, developing skills and maintaining a positive attitude.
The apprenticeship will support individuals for roles such as Care Assistant, Support Worker, or Personal Assistant in various settings, including residential homes, domiciliary care and day centres.
Mandatory qualifications will be completed throughout the course:
- Functional Skills maths and English Level 1 (if applicable)
- Level 2 Diploma in Care
- Care Certificate
Minimum GCSE grade 2/D or Level 1 Maths and English equivalent.
