With our industry-approved qualifications you will teach, support and develop children as they progress through the stages of early childhood.
On our courses you will learn through a combination of work placements and classroom sessions, to ensure that you gain the hands-on experience needed in the industry. Working with a range of employers such as childminders, infant schools, speialist schools, children’s hospitals and day nurseries.
Whilst you study with us, you will learn key skills including communication with children and adults, safeguarding, health and safety, childhood illnesses, play and learning.
You will also take part in practical activities such as making story sacks, cooking and healthy eating for children, painting and displays. You will also learn how to change a nappy and bathe a baby safely, also having the chance to hear from industry experts in guest sessions. You will learn more about the variety of careers and settings available in education and childcare.

Assessments include:
Written observations, in practice presentations, case studies, employer set projects, controlled assessments, exams pressure tests.
Learn from industry-experienced and well qualified tutors who have spent many years in the early years sector, and have specialist qualifications and knowledge to bring to their teaching.
You can participate in regular work placements to boost your skills. Taking part in cross- college events and hear from a range of guest speakers from children’s services such as day nurseries, primary schools, special schools and children’s centers.
You’ll be able to benefit from our links with childcare and education employers, providing an excellent working partnership with these placement providers, which give many students the opportunity of employment shortly after leaving college.
Progressions:
Early years educator (nursery, pre-school, children’s centre), teaching assistant, play therapist, childminder, family support worker, children’s holiday rep.
Those aged 19 or over may not need to pay fees depending on their circumstances. Find out if you qualify for help with fees.
