The motor vehicle teaching team has a passion for all things automotive, creating an energetic and rewarding learning environment. Within our industry-standard, state-of-the-art workshops, you’ll be hands-on working on real vehicles, to gain the knowledge and skills that will enable you to achieve your aims and ambitions within the motor vehicle industry. Our experienced staff will provide you with experience of vehicle maintenance, vehicle fitting, body repair, hybrid and electric vehicle awareness and automotive refrigerant handling.

Apprenticeships
Level 2 Autocare As an Auto-care Technician you will carry out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles, working in an Auto-care or ‘Fast-Fit’ centre, which may be part of a national chain or operated by a regional/local independent group/owner. As an Auto-care Technician you require a unique combination of technical, retail and customer service skills. You will use a range of tools, measuring and diagnosing equipment to identify and repair simple system faults.
Level 3 Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician As a Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician you will carry out a range of services and repairs to cars, car derived vans and light goods vehicles. You can work in a dealership, which focus on a particular manufacturer or an independent garage which deal with many different makes. You will work on all the systems found within the vehicle, including replacing simple parts to solving complex faults with the use of diagnostic methods and equipment.
You can fuel your future in our state-of-the-art motor vehicle workshop at Dearne Valley College. If you’re interested in a career in motor vehicles you can train in our high-spec facilities, which reflect those used in industry. This includes working on modern electric and hybrid vehicles where you can learn key skills that will prepare you for the ever-evolving motor vehicle industry.
