The qualification prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years in this Early Years sector. Upon successful completion of the course the T level gives a license to practice for the industry, whilst also providing a direct route onto a University course.
Through attending placement, you’ll develop a range of employability skills such as timekeeping, teamwork, organisational skills, planning and delivering a range of activities to meet the curriculum, record keeping, assessing children’s development and recording this on the child’s profile, partnership working and safeguarding.
Year 1:
1. Core: Knowledge and understanding of contexts, concepts and theories of the education and childcare sector 0 –19 years 2. Employer set project: where you will apply your knowledge to a real-life industry scenario.3. High quality Industry placement – 375 hours
Year 2
1. Occupational Specialism – where you will further explore and develop skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Early Years Educator.
2. Continuation of your industry placement – 375 hours.
Many of our students are employed locally in the sector within the first few months of leaving College, if not before, as we have an excellent working partnership with our placement providers. Learn from industry-experienced and well qualified tutors who have spent many years in the Early Years sector, and have specialist qualifications and knowledge to bring to their teaching. Participation in regular work placements to boost your skills. Opportunities to take part in cross-college events. Guest speakers’ sessions with a range of representatives from children’s services, day nurseries, primary schools, special schools and children’s centres. Links with Early Years settings including nurseries, primary schools, day care, children’s centres, Children’s Hospital, childminders and special schools
5 GCSE’s at grade 4+ including English Language and maths. A clear enhanced DBS check. Successful interview with a Course Tutor and a character reference.

You may choose to go on to further study to qualify as a teacher, social worker, NHS play therapist, speech and language therapist etc. This course will provide you a direct route into university.
