Festive Fundraisers
The festive spirit was alive and well on campus on 12th December as learners and staff donned their most festive Christmas jumpers and accessories for the annual Christmas Jumper Day!
Seeing friends, classmates and staff decked out in their most outrageous or adorable Christmas jumpers and accessories could not help but bring a smile to your face.
The College was a festive hub, with hallways and classrooms being filled with various decorations and Christmas trees. Our talented FLEX learners added to the holiday cheer with two stalls: one had Christmas Bric a Brac on it which was stuff that was kindly donated by our staff, including things like CDs, baubles, and LED candles, books, and other goodies. The money raised from this stall has gone to Mission Christmas, Cash for Kids. This stall has raised a fantastic £101.60!
The other stall was showcasing the handmade creations from the learners at FLEX, including pompom baubles, wooden Santa themed gonks, hanging tree decorations and stylish bracelets just to name a few. These handmade decorations were also available to purchase! The money made from this stall will go towards a reward day for the learners sometime in the new year.
Our Animal Care learners also displayed their creativity and entrepreneurial skills by selling an array of handmade goodies, including unique handmade bags, charming pebble art, festive headbands, and adorable knitted animals wearing Christmas accessories! All proceeds from these sales will be used to help fund an enrichment day for the Animal Care learners.
Christmas jumper day is an annual event which the charity Save the Children organise where the aim is to raise money for children who need it most. The charity encourages sustainability through recommended people to re-wear old jumpers, decorate an old jumper, purchasing from a charity shop, or swapping with friends and loved ones. So, there is no pressure for people to feel like they must buy brand new jumpers for the occasion.
So, everyone wore their Christmas jumpers with pride creating a cheerful and cosy atmosphere around the campus. We also had collection boxes that were located on each reception desk where people could donate £2 to go to Save the Children. So, by participating, you are not only having fun but also contributing to a worthy cause.
