Learners lend a hand to the Diocese of Sheffield
On the 20th of June, Level 2 and 3 learners studying Beauty at Dearne Valley College attended St. Francis church in Bramley to provide an afternoon of pampering beauty treatments for women clergy across the Diocese of Sheffield. In a heartwarming initiative that aimed to uplift and empower, the students utilized their skills to provide a well-deserved respite for the dedicated members of the clergy.
Women clergy members from across the Diocese of Sheffield were invited by appointment to take part in this rejuvenating experience, where they received a range of treatments including Indian head massages, mini back massages, and nail treatments.
Around 35 treatments were carried out by Dearne Valley students between 11am and 2pm. The aim of the day was to honour the tireless efforts of women clergy who serve their respective communities. The Dearne Valley students provided a nurturing space for members to unwind, be celebrated, and experience a moment of self-care.
The Reverend Amanda Barraclough, Rector of St Mary, Sprotbrough and Dean of Women’s Ministry said: “It’s a 24-hour job, we get one day off a week, so making time for ourselves for self-care is so important.”
The event served as a reminder of the impact that acts of kindness, empathy and collaboration can have in fostering a stronger, more compassionate community, as well as, the importance of self-care and taking time to relax.
Well done to all students that were involved.
