LEAVING SCHOOL AND NOT SURE WHAT COURSE TO STUDY IN SEPTEMBER?

Did you know for every learner that applies for a course at college, we offer taster sessions for all of our subjects so you can find your feet at Dearne Valley College?

All you have to do is follow the stages below.

Explore our wide range of browse our wide range of courses and apprenticeships to apply. 

Following a successful application you will be invited for an interview, an opportunity to meet your tutors and ask any questions about your course.

Following your interview, if you are offered a place we will then invite you for a taster session.

Our taster sessions deliver hands-on insight into your chosen subject areas, fueling your interest ready to start in September.

Continue to track your application on the Admissions Manager for more information about enrollment and starting in September.


Where do I need to go for my taster session?

Please arrive at reception to register your attendance, from there you will be directed to your session.

When can I attend the sessions?

You can choose to attend either morning (9.30am – 12pm) or afternoon (1pm – 3.30pm).

Can I attend more than one session?

You can attend both sessions if you wish.

You can also attend different sessions, even if you haven’t applied for a course, to make sure the course you have chosen is right for you.

How many people will there be at the taster session?

Each taster session has a capacity of between 12 and 20 students.

Make sure you book your taster session as soon possible as places are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch isn’t provided however our catering team will be providing samplers of our delicious College menu!

When do I need to arrive for my taster session?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tasters to register your attendance.

You will then receive a welcome talk from the Director of Campus before heading off to your taster.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

We recommend everyone bring a pen and a drink. You will be notified by email, if you are required to bring anything extra for your chosen subject.

What if I can’t make the taster sessions?

If you are still not sure if your course is right for you, you can book a VIP tour. Please email schoolevents@rnngroup.ac.uk to arrange this.
